HARARE - Authorities in Zimbabwe have issued more threats to those using social media and Information minister Christopher Mushohwe says those spreading inflammatory messages will be hunted down.
He was speaking after online activists organised a widely-followed national stay-away this week and warning of another next week.
Safety on social media has been a huge talking point in Zimbabwe for the past two days and this warning will make users more careful.
Mushohwe said in a statement the net was closing in on what he called ghosts behind inflammatory messages on social media.

He also said there’ll be corrective action against companies being used for subversion in a warning that was likely targeted at mobile phone networks and internet service providers (ISPs).
Internet access was largely down in the first hours of Wednesday’s stay-away. It’s not clear what was behind this.
