The TY Danjuma Foundation has committed N25 million to this year’s skills acquisition programme for 55 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Dr Sunday Udo, who made this known in Abuja yesterday during the orientation ceremony for the beneficiaries, said the gesture would go a long way in ensuring the IDPs become entrepreneurs.
Udo, represented by Grants and Partnership Officer, Mr Gima Forje, said the foundation has so far spent over N200 million on IDPs empowerment programmes across states in the federation.
On her part, Barr. Ranti Daudu, the Executive Director of All Children Charity International Foundation (ACCIF), the organiser of the skills acquisition training programme said beneficiaries would be trained for six months on shoe-making, welding and tailoring.
In her words: “20 of the IDPs will be trained in tailoring, 25 in shoe making and 10 in welding technology. Each trainee will be provided with a start-up equipment of the training.
