TY Danjuma Foundation spends N25m on IDPs' skills acquisition

The TY Danjuma Foun­dation has committed N25 million to this year’s skills acquisition programme for 55 Internally Displaced Per­sons (IDPs) in the Federal Cap­ital Territory (FCT).
Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Dr Sunday Udo, who made this known in Abuja yesterday during the orientation ceremony for the beneficiaries, said the gesture would go a long way in ensur­ing the IDPs become entrepre­neurs.
Udo, represented by Grants and Partnership Officer, Mr Gima Forje, said the founda­tion has so far spent over N200 million on IDPs empowerment programmes across states in the federation.
On her part, Barr. Ranti Dau­du, the Executive Director of All Children Charity Interna­tional Foundation (ACCIF), the organiser of the skills acqui­sition training programme said beneficiaries would be trained for six months on shoe-mak­ing, welding and tailoring.
In her words: “20 of the IDPs will be trained in tailoring, 25 in shoe making and 10 in weld­ing technology. Each trainee will be provided with a start-up equipment of the training.
