HANOI, (Xinhua) -- As many as 264 students from various countries and regions around the world will compete at the 27th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) to be held in Vietnam.
The 27th IBO is scheduled to take place in Vietnam's capital Hanoi from Sunday with the participation of 68 delegations and three observation teams.
This is the first IBO to take place in Vietnam. The week-long event will include theoretical and practical examinations, which are designed by Vietnamese lectures and biologists.
The International Biology Olympiad (IBO), an annual competition for secondary school students, was founded in 1989 and first held in Czech Republic in 1990. Vietnam attended the IBO for the first time in 1996. It has won one gold medal, 10 silver and 45 bronze medals in total so far.
