The Zimbabwean president addressed war veterans gathered outside his party headquarters today.
HARARE - A confident President Robert Mugabe has told a meeting with the country’s war veterans that Zimbabwe will have him as president for a long time to come.
The 92-year-old president has addressed the hastily organised meeting following a statement issued last week in which some veterans called him dictatorial.
He told war veterans gathered outside his party headquarters this afternoon that he’ll be the people’s leader for a long time.
He says Zimbabweans need to be united ahead of the next elections in 2018.
There were threats towards protest pastor Evan Mawarire and towards the war veterans behind last Thursday’s very critical statement.
Mugabe warned that during the war traitors had been kept underground and fed there implying that punishment for errant war veterans could also be harsh.
