FIFA president Gianni Infantino yesterday said he would propose two more teams to come from Africa if the world football governing body decides to increase the number of football teams in World Cup competitions.
Infantino, who was fielding questions from State House correspondents, said a lot could be done to enhance football development in Nigeria.
According to him, "When it comes generally to football development in Nigeria, work needs to be done in organisational structures, setting up of training centres and better framework. A lot can be done."
He also stated that he did not think there was any crisis in the Nigerian Football Federation, noting that "there is an elected president in place, and he is functioning. In a big country like Nigeria, you're bound to see opposition, that's what you see."
The FIFA helmsman said he felt honoured to have had the opportunity to meet with President Buhari and discuss football development in Nigeria with him.
"We have had some intense discussions on football in Nigeria and Africa. We discussed how we can best develop football in Africa because there are talents, potentials and passion to do great things in football in Nigeria and Africa," he said.
