    JOHANNESBURG - Some residents of
Thembelihle have slammed President Jacob Zuma’s visit to the informal settlement saying he’s no longer the people’s president.
Zuma today visited the community in the south of Johannesburg ahead of the local government elections.

The City of Johannesburg also unveiled a project worth over R170 million, which will provide electricity to the informal settlement.
Some residents in Thembelihle say today’s visit by the ruling party was simply an electioneering stunt.

One man says the president has forgotten about the poorest of the poor.
“I’ve been living here for 25 years and I’m now a fully grown man. My grandfather is old and still living at a squatter camp (sic).”
He says community members still face several problems.
“We are the ones who voted for him, we put him up there. He must come and build houses here and he must put roads here.”

Earlier, Zuma visited Eldorado Park where he applauded initiatives in the community aimed at stopping the scourge of drugs.
