 Associates of former president, Goodluck Jonathan are using Niger Delta Avengers to destabilise the PresideFew weeks ago, a top security source disclosed that  some close associates and allies of former president, Goodluck Jonathan were suspected of being behind the on-going crisis in the Niger Delta region. The source said following the spate of bombings of oil pipelines and other facilities by the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), some close allies of Jonathan have been put under surveillance by the nation’s security agencies. Similarly, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Asdulmumins Kabir also accused militant group, Niger Delta Avengers of trying to destroy the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari despite the fact that Buhari’s election was accepted by all Nigerians.

The Emire made the accusations on Thursday, June 2, at the opening of first the first security for support group of various religions organisation organised by Katsina state government and supreme council for sharia in Nigeria, Nigeria Pilot reports.

 Muhammadu Buhar’s led administration, according to accusations made by the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND).

According to Daily Post, Mend alleged that “the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), is the vehicle currently being used by Niger Delta political elite and associates of former President Goodluck Jonathan to destabilize President Buhari’s Government. It was these political juggernauts who are loathe to see President Buhari gain a foothold in the region.”

This is not the first time the associates of former president Jonathan will be accused of being behind the resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta region.
