Saraki, Atiku, others pay tribute to Stephen Keshi


Tributes and condolences have continued to pour in following the death of former coach of the Nigerian national football team, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi.

The former Super Eagles coach passed away in the early hours of today June 8, 2016, according to his relatives and close associates. Keshi’s death has however triggered reactions from even influential political across the country.

 Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has also commiserated  with the nation’s  football  family  over the sudden death of  Keshi.

 Wike stated that the contributions of late coach Stephen Keshi  to development  of  Nigerian Football  will always be remembered  and celebrated. He prayed God to grant the football  family the strength  to bear this irreparable  loss.

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Wednesday, June 8, described as a “rude shock” the news of the death of the former Skipper and Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi. Saraki said: “Keshi was an excellent star. His soccer artistry and leadership skills remain unparalleled. His days, while donning the national colours and his stint as a National Coach of the Super Eagles could rightly be regarded as “Nigeria’s golden moments” in both national, continental and world soccer.”
