The China-US Strategic & Economic Dialogue is underway in Beijing. It has entered its second day, with both a "Strategic Track" and an "Economic Track". Both China and the US vow to strengthen cooperation and address differences.

In an opening speech on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of consultation and communication to expand mutual trust and consensus. He said the broad Pacific Ocean should not become an arena for rivalry, but rather a platform for inclusive cooperation.

The dialogue will focus on a wide range of economic issues, like macroeconomic policy, investment treaty, industrial overcapacity and trade disputes. Talks on a bilateral investment treaty are high on the agenda as BIT negotiations have been considered the most important issue for China-US economic relations
