LESSONS FROM MY MD'S SERVICE OF SONGS

It is better to go to the house of mourning,  than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to heart. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools in the house of mirth. It is better to hear the rebukes of the wise, than for a man to hear the songs of fools.  Ecclesiates 7:2,4,5.

My late MD; Lady (Chief) Uche Rosari Anyaene, the proprietress, Stella Maris group of schools,  Abuja,  died in June after about three (3) months of rumoured sickness and treatment in oversea countries including England and India.

August 16, 2013 was the service of songs;  part of a Christian funeral ceremony in which songs are rendered and testimony about the deceased are shared by acquaintances. To be candid, I arrived the venue late and had to sit outside the large auditorium being used but that did not diminish my view and lessons as there were telecast screens all over the places. Sitting down there, and reading in between activities Rick Warren's the purpose driven life, many lesson occurred to me from the proceedings among which I shall be sharing five shortly:
1. Death is Real and Inevitable:
Yea, that is a common lesson! But how many remember this in their daily activities? If we do, our moral standard, our actions and inactions, real motives, and passions will surely be different from what it used to be and the world would have been different! As some of her video clips and slide photographs were played, I recalled her ebullient and dynamic carriage and actions.
Oh, what an energetic woman;  I whispered to myself or may be aloud. It was then emphasized to me that,  no matter our talents, achievements, wealths, riches, fame and authority, as the Scriptures said, so it is; no man can deliver him/herself from death. Death, how wicked and powerful thy chilling hands are! So I learned that I must not boast  myself of tomorrow. She had great plans, I quipped, for the group of schools and other ventures but all that will never be in her physical presence again. Her great charisma and other talents  are gone, those, no man will ever harness. Death, death, what an earthly terminal point you are! But you shall be swallowed up in victory.
Let us live in the consciousness that we might be called upon to exit the world at any time and be ready for the life hereafter. That leads to my next lesson of the night.
2.AFTER DEATH, WHERE? The ministrations, that's the preaching and administration of the mass by the priests posed a lot of questions to what I have known from the Bible I have studied for twenty (20) years. They were not clear and precise like Jesus in the Bible about the destinations of the departed souls. From the story of the rich man and Lazarus ( Luke 16:19-31) and the broad and narrow way parable (Matthew 7:13,14) as revealed by Jesus, only two destinations are available - Heaven or Hell. And, the choice is made in life - defined by how you lived and the acceptance or rejection of Jesus, the son of God, as your personal Lord and saviour. Then at death, Hebrews 9: 27 says, "And, as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this, the judgment ". Which means after death no change of state. Just like our common cliche "No repentance in the grave" says.
  However, the officiating priests were praying that God will grant someone who had been dead for nearly three (3) months forgiveness and allow her to find peace.  Whereas I had no problems with the content of the prayer, I do with the time of it and on who is correct - Jesus,  the son of God or the quatet of the priests?
  If Jesus is right, which I am 110% sure he is. He is the son of God, omnipotent and omniscient, he came from heaven, lived, died and rose again and ascended into heaven and in addition, even the priests in question were praying through him and Mary to God; then relative to the priests,  He must be right and they wrong!
  There is no repentance nor forgiveness after death. If you want to be in heaven, repent now and believe on Jesus, the son of God as your personal Lord and saviour. Put ALL your trust and FAITH in him and after that live righteously.
  There are two real places to go after death, - heaven or hell,  no purgatory. If you die now, where will you go?
  If praying for the forgiveness of the sins of the dead is by you right, then, my question for you is, who will pray for the last set of people that will die?

3. THE RICH ARE CROWD PULLER - DEAD OR ALIVE . AS I remorsefully said, I was about 45 minutes late. Buy that was not the first time I was arriving a service of songs an hour late and had a choice place to sit. However,  this was different because the hall was already filled to overflowing; why? She was rich and famous.  Very good and I loved her dearly. Then, my quibble was why are humans always interested in everything of the rich? Well, my lesson here was "I must work hard to be rich too" and then came the answer to my objection- people are interested in anything of the rich for the same reasons that I do not want to be poor!
  So, how do one become rich and at the same time makes heaven after death? The answer is found in Matthew 6:33; Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and ALL these things (including riches ) shall be added unto you.

4.SERVE HUMANITY: The greatest of men are those who served others. My MD, spent her life building academic institutions to give sound education to the children of our  great nation - Nigeria. Great as Stella Maris Schools are,the fees remain moderate and affordable so that all can come. She ensured not too tight an entry qualifications but rigorous academic works. So that the greater number can be admitted and transformed into great minds through the regimented academic and moral disciplines in the institution. Well, as we have always said, " life gives to you what you gave to it." She served people and people honoured her even in death! No wonder, she was the "BIG AUNTY".
5. It Is Not Worth It. The many struggles, fightings, violence, frauds and even killing to amass wealth and other material things is not worth it. Fellow preachers compromising God's eternal truth to appeal to people and get followers is not worth it. Bloggers posting falsehood for popularity or traffic is not worth it. Politicians getting involved in corrupt and sharp practices to win elections is not worth it.
  The great question is what shall it profit a man If he shall gain the whole world and loose his own soul or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Surely, naked we came into the world and naked shall we return.  Oh, now it is clear that it is better to be in the house of mourning than in the house of feasting.
  For me, these are both great ephemeral and eternal lessons that only the wise take to heart. I know you are wise and will take it to heart.
  Your life will never be the same as you do.  God bless you.

THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH

And the Words was made flesh, and dwell among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 kjv.
Humans are gifted with one uniqueness. It's the ability to use word. This ability is shared by all. It's the basis for our relationship. No two people can relate without the use of words either spoken or printed. Words are the building blocks of life; we think in words, reason in words, infact,  your fulfillment in life and productivity depends on how many words you have in your word repertoir.
All we have and will have in life depends on our use of words.
Our text today says the Word was made flesh. About four years ago,  I read Robert Kiyosaki's Rich dad, poor dad, in which he noted his rich dad's interpretation of this. He said,  his rich  dad believes that whatever you say is that you will get. That is in perfect harmony with the Scriptures. If you will be saved from sin, it is by your words. Hosea 14: 2, says, take with you words,  and turn to the Lord: and say  unto him, Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously... You don't need to perish,  you don't need to risk hell and be doomed forever when it's so easy ! That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, thou shalt be saved Romans 10:9.
To be sanctified and holy is counted impossible by many. And, you will have what  you said,Mark 11: 23c, hence they are unholy.  And surely, without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Hebrews12:14. But you can be holy, just say holiness is possible and it's mine. Then come to Jesus with the words of request and ask in faith through earnest prayer.
Many are poor, in pain, prison and under pressure because of the negative use of their words. Their suffering is occasioned by their words and can be terminated even now by their words.  How? Repent sincerely before God and ask him for forgiveness, promising to use your tongue aright henceforth.
And the Word was made flesh and dwell among us. What a great conversion power!  From the realm of abstract  to reality, from the intangible to tangible, pain to pleasure and profit.  Your words have the power. Jesus said for by thy words, thou shalt be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.Matthew 12:37.  Whatever the negative circumstances around you and your life, rise up in faith and command a change in Jesus name.
Why are words so powerful, especially those of the redeemed?
Look at John 1:1-5. Notice the Word is singular and starts with upper case letter  and HE was in the beginning with GOD..  apparently, this is Jesus.  The very word personified. Words are powerful because they are backed up by the Living Word--The Lord Jesus.
Now, you know the words in your mouth are powerful-They can make or mar, releases or restricts, and honours or horrifies you. Use them well to your advantage.
You will not be the same again. GOD bless you.

Governors from the Northern part of the
country, Tuesday, paid a solidarity visit to
Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
The quartet of Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of
Niger, Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Rabi’u Musa
Kwankwaso of Kano and Murtala Nyako of
Adamawa states, arrived the Port
Harcourt International Airport  Tuesday
afternoon amid protests .
In a joint statement, which was made
available to Vanguard, the governors said
they were in the Rivers State
Government House to visit the governor,
whom they described as “our brother and
Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’
Forum” and to ascertain for themselves
some of the things they had been reading
in the media lately.
Although the governors expressed
satisfaction with the peaceful atmosphere
in the state despite the political
developments there, they said they were
shocked over the role being played by the
Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr.
Mbu Joseph Mbu.
The governors said, “We acknowledge the
great work Governor Amaechi and his
team are doing in Rivers State and
commend his maturity and calm even in
the face of apparent persecution….
“As Chief Executives of our states who
have sworn to protect lives and property
in our various states, we are particularly
troubled by the development in Rivers
State.

smirk of unprofessionalism and political
partisanship, which is unbecoming of his
office.
“With the way the police is being used
and abused and with officers like Mbu in
the force, we do not see the need for
state governments to fund an antagonistic
police and may be forced to reconsider
our position on the financial contribution
of the states towards the funding of the
Nigeria Police.
“Arising from the actions of the police and
Mr. Joseph Mbu in Rivers State, the call
for state police as a constitutional
provision has become a necessity.
“We note that events in Rivers State have
again brought to the fore the question of
true federalism and the need for
institutions derived from constitutions be
allowed to function without undue
interference.
“As federating units we must be allowed
the space to guarantee our people
sustainable development as provided by
the constitution.

THE NEWS BEHIND THE NEWS (NOW IN FULL)

MOST media either print or electronic will do anything to convince the public about the veracity of their news. They will labour themselves to exhaustion to prove the trust worthiness of their headlines. Whereas their efforts at enlightening and informing the society  are commendable, it must be noted that the news men are human and as such have their leaning or should we say minor 'biases'. Consider,  for instance,  a Nigerian sport journalist writing a pre-match analysis for a match between the super eagles of Nigeria and the three lions of England. What will his analysis look like? Also imagine you are the editor of a very popular newspaper investigating your politician father's involvement in ritual killing for electoral success.  How straight will your investigation & subsequent reportage be?
Please be fair and very honest, post your view or what you feel your stand will be in any of this scenarios and if you have a life experience share.... lets go!

The Way Up

He that humbleth himself shall be exalted but he that exalted himself shall be abased; Luke 18:14 . This Scripture gives a powerful secret that many have overlooked to the detriment of their elevation in life and ministry. As we know most words of Christ sound so simple and yet very profound in it's effect. The above statement exempts no one neither is it constrained by any boundary or barriers.  It is a universal law that affects all and sundry. Hear him as he boldly but calmly with the weight of divine authority lay it out....He, that could be any body, high or low, poor or rich,  popular or unpopular,  educated or illiterate,  man or woman,  black or white, that exalts himself or herself shall be abased.  Self promotion is the norm in today world. We hear statements like" if you have got it then flaunt it". In other words, if you are beautiful, dress nudely to show your endowment,  if you are rich, oppress the poor and show them why they are not qualified to live, the intelligent should defraud the unsuspecting and so on.

But the divine stance remains if you desire elevation then you must humble yourself first. There's no such thing as a proud Christian. Jesus shocked his disciples one day in Matt 18:3,4..And said, verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall HUMBLE himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Well then, if you want to climb up in life and enjoy the favour of God, humble yourself. If you want a stress free life be humble. If you want to enter heaven at last,  repent from sin and learn to walk humbly with thy God.
ABASEMENT THROUGH PRIDE
The words of Christ are verifiable. Those who went against it were abased in the Bible. Nebuchadnezzar - Dan 4:28-32, was demoted from royalty to seven year ruin,  James and John in Luke 9:56-56, earned divine rebuke and delay  attainment to anointing, Herod, was not that lucky,  he died while displaying his pride in Acts 12:20-23. Dear, pride goeth before destruction but with the humble is life.
INDICATORS OF PRIDE
INDICATORS help us to check for the presence of substances. In case you are unsure whether or not you are a victim of this giant killer - pride,  check this:
a. How frequently do you use these pronouns my, I, I will, etc
b. What forms the basis for your pursuits? Is it to compete with others and out wit them or just your quest to actualise a dream?
c. Salvation.  If you are not genuinely converted, you will be proud. Jesus in you is the such of humility and freedom.
The WAY OUT
IF you are in the web of this monster,  you might be asking what's the way out?
1. Humility - it is to own all you have with the consciousness of none of them. See yourself as a steward (keeper ) not owner. 1 Cor4:7. You see all you have as sincerely and seriously God's own and therefore give
God glory not arrogating it to yourself.
2. You repent genuinely.  Many don't see pride as a sin that will damn their soul. But the truth is the proud are heading to he'll. So humble yourself and repent.
3. Resolve to be humble henceforth and consciously humble yourself.
4. Read the Bible and pray often for grace to be humble.
As do this, by His grace I will see you there.

God bless you. Your life will not be the same again in Jesus name. Amen.

A HABITATION OF GOD.

In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the spirit. Ephesians 2:22

Good day dear friends and followers of this gracious blog page. Todays post is based on the above scriptural reference. It is such a wonderful thought to realise that a creature can be the habitation of the creator. It is almost incredible, right? But the word of God affirm it, and so it is.

God indwelling a creature is a glorious thought but much more glorious is to recognise He is dwelling in you. Oh wonderful! The implications are awesome.

1. The Proximity: Many a christian always consider God far away from them. they wish God is closer or nearer to hear their prayers or solve a problem. But He is right in you. Are you feeling lone and sad? That your friends have deserted you? You need not feel such, there is acquatance that never leaves. The child of God, is never alone. For He said, I will never leave you nor forsake you so you may bodly say the Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Resident in you is a living companion. You are not alone. A consequence of that is the<strong> guidance. </strong>If you are at a cross road and wishing for a physical guide and there is non, turn to the inner guide. He is the omniscience. He knows the way round the corners and the confusion in your heart and life. You can face life with more courage daily because the light of the world reside with you.

2. The Care: I want you to think for a minute or two, about the care and attention the residence of your country president receives. The security, the cleaners and gardeners on shift duty working all the time to ensure complete and total tydiness, the cooks constantly preparing different dishes  ahead of demand etc etc. No cob web can be hiden for long and no insect can lodge there either. Shame with you too. Because you are God's habitation, I command every strange sickness, afflictions, satanic manipulation around your life to cease now in the name of Jesus.

3. The Holiness: Many rationalise that holiness of life is impossible. But they are wrong. They found holiness impossible because they seek for it by human skills and effort. This verse reveals the secret of Godliness. Jesus Christ, the very God and son of God indwells you, working in you that which well pleasing in the sight of God the father through the Holy spirit. how can holiness be difficult? Holiness is easy. Freedom from sin is not a mirage. God in you is the secret. He created you to indwell you and make you his very image.

4. The Dominion: God is indomitable. Nobody or circumstance can overcome God. Because He is the house. You are indomitable. Rise and rejoice, lift up your voice in worship of him who liveth forever and ever.

5. The Rapturability: The ultimate of God is to take you home to himself some day from now through the sound of the trumpet called the rapture. Sinners can not make it. But with Christ indwelling you, rapture and heaven is sure.

Is he in your heart yet? lf not, let him in. He is standing at the door of your heart and knocking open the door through prayer and invite him now, Rev 3:20.

Your life will never be the same again. God bless you.

This is just a test post on this blogspot. Having tried but in vain to have one up. As you know most print media would have us believe that all they published are true and authentic stories.
